She was a normal hometown girl who grew up on her family’s farm and at an early age, started singing in school plays, talent shows, and even at her local church. After graduating from high school in 2001, Carrie Underwood auditioned and won American Idol in 2005, which skyrocketed her career. That same year, she released her debut album called Some Hearts, which quickly became one of the best women-solo debuts in country music history, as it had the greatest amount of likes in the shortest amount of time.
When Carrie released her first debut album, fan quickly began to notice her music was sad rather than happy. “Before He Cheats” was released in 2005 and is now proven to be one of Carrie Underwood’s most listened to ever be released. This song is about a breakup and how she coped with it.
Her music is more angled towards people who have suffered, whether that’s because of relationships or family issues, and the message behind most of her songs is to never give up because there’s always a way out. Like Carrie said, “every day is a new day, and you’ll never be able to find happiness if you don’t move on”. This is a highly popular statement Carrie says and lives up to because although life may have very challenging battles, there is always a way out.
An example of this is motto is her song “Blown Away,” another one of her very popular singles. The song focuses on the idea that her mother passed away, and her dad is an alcoholic, “Her daddy was a mean old mister, mama was an angle in the ground.” Her dad, according to the song, would be “passed out on the couch.” Additionally, she also mentioned that there was a huge tornado that was going to hit her house but that “there’s not enough wind in Oklahoma, to rip the nails out of the past.” Although this wasn’t a true story about Carrie, it shows how, although you may have tried to move on, there’s always something holding you back, and it’s something you will never forget and will always stick with you.
Carrie is a widely accomplished country singer known for her eccentric music, and continues to create and has no intention of stopping.
