After several years of being released, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting a DLC that has revived the playability of the title.
Released in 2017, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch. This racing simulator, originally titled Mario Kart 8, was released on the Nintendo WiiU in 2014, but the low popularity of the console didn’t help it that much. It wasn’t until Nintendo released an enhanced version of this title in the Nintendo Switch system, bringing back the base game and adding new characters, new game mechanics, and graphical improvements. Fans happily welcomed this enhanced version of the game, making it the single best-selling game from the Mario franchise to the present.
Now, since the announcement of a DLC on February 9th, 2022, the popularity of the title has risen once again. This exclusive downloadable content will be released over six waves, having already started on March 18th, 2022, all the way to the end of 2023. Each wave consists of two different cups, in which eight varied courses from past Mario Kart titles will be included, such as Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Tour, and many more.
After the release of the first wave, fans have expressed their enjoyment with the offered content, already craving for more. The additional playability that was added to the game, and the nostalgia brought back from past courses, have been a great combination to attract once again fans of the beloved racing simulator series.
This first wave from the DLC has risen once against the popularity of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, thus it won’t be a surprise if even more people start playing this title. Even though it was rumored that Mario Kart 9 was in development, this downloadable content will be able to maintain the playability of this game for a long time.
